The Zoom barrel features a telescoping mechanism that enables the player to lengthen or shorten the barrel, adjusting the tuning. This can be useful in different playing environments where the temperature or humidity might affect the instrument’s pitch.
By providing precise tuning adjustments, zoom barrels offer clarinetists a versatile tool for maintaining consistent intonation during performance without the need for multiple barrels. Zoom barrels purchased from Burke Woodwinds are compatible between Bb and A clarinet, and even work across multiple models and brands of clarinets.
